Acrostic Poem that spells “Trump Lies” (and the facts that counter them) T=Tariffs will be paid by other countries. FACT: Tariffs are taxes on incoming goods that get added to the price WE pay for those goods. R=Russia is a U.S. ally. FACT: Russia is an anti-democratic adversary that is corrupt and repeatedly commits human-rights violations. U=Ukraine invaded Russia. FACT: On February, 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, justifying it by lying that Ukraine was mistreating Russians who lived there. M=Military firings are good for the U.S. FACT: Firing military leaders solely on the basis of their loyalty to Trump harms our nation; the military’s loyalty is to the Constitution, not the President. P=Putin is a good guy. FACT: Putin is a dictator, punishing any form of dissent through imprisonment and/or death. L=Lies by Trump are harmless. FACT: Trump’s lies are meant to confuse and distract us from what he’s actually doing: destabilizing and dismantling our government. I=Immigrants are destroying our economy. FACT: Undocumented immigrants make up only about 4% of the US labor force, and they work in vital industries like agriculture, housing, and health care—reducing costs for all Americans. E=Equity hurts white people. FACT: Equity policies help everyone, including vulnerable populations who are able to receive fair treatment based on their individual needs. S=Science doesn’t need to be funded by the federal government. FACT: By defunding the National Institute of Health, the Trump administration stopped supporting vital health initiatives such as funding for cancer treatments/cures and creating new vaccines.
